Clinical Psychologist | Rural Women's Mental Health Advocate | Speaker | Media Commentator
Rebecca Gilchrist is an Australian Clinical Psychologist, Director of RG Psychology and Chair of the NSW Farmers Armidale Branch. Based on a sixth-generation farming property in regional New South Wales, Rebecca brings a distinctive combination of clinical expertise, lived experience and rural leadership to national conversations about women's mental health, motherhood and healthcare accessibility.
Through her private practice, Rebecca provides psychological care to women across rural, regional and remote Australia, specialising in anxiety, trauma, maternal mental health, burnout and the psychological challenges of navigating motherhood and significant life transitions.
Her commitment to improving rural healthcare is both professional and deeply personal. At 33 weeks pregnant, Rebecca unexpectedly gave birth to her daughter aboard an aircraft during an emergency medical transfer—an extraordinary experience that shaped her understanding of resilience, maternal vulnerability and the inequalities facing regional families accessing healthcare.
Beyond clinical practice, Rebecca advocates for rural communities through her leadership with NSW Farmers, participation in the New England Renewable Energy Zone Community Reference Group and contributions to a Senate inquiry examining Medicare access and funding.
An experienced keynote speaker and podcast guest, Rebecca is passionate about translating psychological research into accessible, meaningful conversations that challenge expectations of motherhood, explore the realities of rural life and advocate for better outcomes for Australian women.
